Plans

Planning is almost complete for Treehouse Village, a beautiful cohousing community coming to the South Shore in Nova Scotia. Currently in the construction drawing phase of the project, we already have 15 households eager to welcome our future neighbours and begin building 30 private homes and the common house on 14 acres of land in Bridgewater – recognized by the Chronicle Herald as the Best Community in Atlantic Canada for Young Families.

We have received approval from the Town of Bridgewater for our Development Agreement.  There are more approvals needed before we can begin construction and these are progressing well.

We are happy to share our plans, though there may be some changes as we refine the design further. Please contact us for more information and to request a PDF copy of the latest plans.

Site Plan

Cohousing site design focuses on maximizing the potential for low-stakes friendships with neighbours. When designing Treehouse Village Ecohousing, we not only considered social interactions and paid close attention to sustainability and maintaining as much of the forested site as possible.

Here’s what we included in our site plan:

  • 30 energy-efficient, private homes
  • A Common House with shared amenities
  • Gardens, orchard, shed and greenhouse
  • Workshop
  • Onsite parking
  • Stormwater features

Private Homes

There are five different home types available at Treehouse Village to accommodate various household sizes and needs. We have two types of 1-bedroom, two types of 2-bedroom, as well as a 3-bedroom home.

Common Amenities

The Common House is the heart of any cohousing community and ours is no different. Our Common House boasts nearly 4100 square feet of high quality indoor shared space. In addition to our Common House, we also have a workshop, underground storage, and ample outdoor space.
