Fancy Pants on the Green

On March 26, my neighbour Clara and I received a personal invitation from hostess Cora to visit the newly established Fancy Pants on the Green. The smiling Cora welcomed us with a bell under the freshly painted sign.

We were delighted to see the café was already busy, with standing room only. Neighbours Allyson, Meg and Kathlyn had already tasted the specials of the day… corn chips, pear, orange and pineapple slices, blueberries, yellow and red peppers, and white cheese. Although I didn’t have a detailed discussion with the chefs (Marlo, Tilly, and Cora), my understanding is the food is locally sourced and prepared.

This is the second event by the entrepreneurial children of Treehouse. When talking later to a few others, Lexi and Rose, they informed me that the café would be open until around 6:00 pm as the last time those hours worked quite well.

While we were chatting with the other guests, Scott arrived with Cali — I hadn’t realized it was a pet-friendly establishment. Just today my partner Mȧel had commented that there are very few pet-friendly places anymore. And then Zac dropped by with a cash donation. He said that he came back with it, after enjoying himself so much. Cora insisted that if we had money, we could pay for our food, otherwise, we should come anyway and have something to eat.

Clara and I were sent off with a “Thank you for coming” and “Come again soon!” If you have the opportunity, I recommend visiting Fancy Pants on the Green for fresh local food and great company.
