Highlights of the holidays

After a busy year finishing construction projects, planting trees and gardens, and opening our Common House, it was time to rest and rejuvenate … and enjoy a holiday season filled with light.

On December 15, the Treehouse Village community celebrated our second annual Christmas Market. We were treated with hot mulled wine, caroling, face painting, crafts, homemade pastries, chocolates, and even vegan popcorn. We ended the evening relaxing and chatting by a warm campfire.

On December 21, we gathered to sing and create a Solstice Spiral to honour the returning light. Then, on Christmas eve our courtyard was lit up with “luminaries” — rows of candles lighting the way for Santa.

We celebrated the holiday season in other ways, too, including a Hanukkah meal, Twelve Days of Board Games, and a New Year’s bash.

Also, walks in the woods, skating on the town pond, movie nights, coffee in the Common House … and rescuing a lost kitten, who became our latest (furry) Treehouse Villager!
