All the world’s a stage

Treehouse Village member Andrew at a rehearsal for a play.

I’m blown away by the amount of arts & culture on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, where Treehouse Village is located. I’m directing a play for the South Shore Players, a community theatre here in Bridgewater.

I’ve cast my neighbour Andrew (also a Treehouse Villager) in the play. Here he is on the left, overseeing some silliness during rehearsal!

Our production is a special staged reading of Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, a hilarious and thought-provoking spin on Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Two minor characters from Hamlet — the attendant lords Rosencrantz and Guildenstern — now find themselves at the center of the action. There’s just one problem: They have no idea why they were summoned to Elsinore!

I’ve also cast one of our Treehouse Village friends, Tash, in the title role of Guildenstern.

During the intermissions, we will offer a “Loonie Auction” with the chance to win fabulous prizes donated by local businesses, while supporting live theatre.

There will also be live music during the intermissions, featuring two young South Shore musicians, Emerson Marcy (guitarist) and Shannah Marcy (violinist).

If you live in the South Shore area, I hope you’ll come to the show! Tickets are only $15. There are only 3 performances:

Friday, June 12 at 7:00pm

Saturday, June 13 at 7:00pm

Sunday, June 14 at 2:00pm

Tickets can be purchased at https://www.southshoreplayers.ca/tickets/
